daily randomness

-Teller misses Joe. He wanders around the house crying. which makes me wish that there were shock collars for cats, especially at 2 am when i've just gotten the baby back to sleep and the stupid cat is meowing outside our room.

-I had my 6 week post partum check up today. my doctor said i was 'looking good'. for some reason, i get wierded out when my ob-gyn's give me that compliment...i mean really, there's only one thing they're really looking at!

-there is a bug in my bedroom. it flies, but it's not a fly. I freaked out and went into super cleaning mode, i'm only halfway done but I can see the top of my dresser again!

-my days are basically: feed, change, laundry, repeat. but I get smiles and coos from Noah, and that makes everything I do worthwhile. I would take chapped nipples for a year just for one of his big gummy smiles.

-I breastfeed, and I produce a ton of milk. It gets messy, and I've tried several different nursing pads over the last month. The worst product EVER: Gerber disposable nursing pads. the worst 4.99 i ever spent, the things are absolutely worthless. I should have stuck with Lansinoh, they never did me wrong.

-I bought pepsi yesterday, and I still haven't brought them in from the trunk of the car. hopefully plastic bottles won't burst in the heat. then i'd have a soaking wet car that's also sticky. the car is drying out from the thunder/hail storm 2 days ago...i left the windows open and didn't have time to roll them up before the hail started.

-only 1.5 days til Joe comes home! Only 8 days til we leave for the beach!

nothing much

-Monday Noah and I went to visit my job. He spit up, pooped everywhere, and screamed. it did not go as smoothly as I had hoped.

-Tuesday, we went to grandma's b/c it was super hot, and grandma has central air. While there, we had a major thunderstorm with hail, and the power went out. so much for central air. Oh, Noah also pooped everywhere again...which led me to believe he needed bigger diapers finally.

-Today is Wednesday. We went to Target for bigger diapers and milk, and the mall. i forgot the milk was in the car while we were at the mall, i hope it's still good- i was only in the mall for about 20 minutes. half the mall was without power, so I couldn't buy what I wanted. Starting to think Daddy might get his father's day gift a little late, or he'll be getting an IOU for his major gift. I'm torn for his gift...one, i can't lift so i'd have to have him go with me to buy, plus it won't fit in the car so we'd need the jeep. the other, i just haven't been able to find anywhere.

I just wonder what the rest of the week will bring!

***********update*******
bigger diapers did not solve the blow-out issue. which means, Noah had a bath today. then, he spit up :-( then he ate again, and spit up again. poor little guy has a yucky tummy today.

more randomness

-Noah was laying in his pack-n-play yesterday, and he laughed! He was 'talking' to the bears on his mobile. of course, as soon as Joe turned on the video camera he started fussing and wouldn't do it again.

-Noah has a small red scratch on his nose :-( i'm not sure how he did it, i filed his nails yesterday!

-Joe left for work. He's flying out of BWI later this afternoon and won't be back until Saturday afternoon.

-I have to mail out birth announcements still. yup, he's 5 weeks old and I still haven't sent any out.

-I started a list of all the things I need to take to Myrtle Beach for the baby. Babies need a lot of things!

-I should be cleaning the house or taking a shower while Noah is sleeping. Instead I'm making a post on random things that no one else really cares about...

Random little updates

-Noah has started sleeping more at night. Which would be awesome, except I find myself having to wake up and pump or I'm in a lot of pain. part of me wishes he would wake up and eat b/c nursing is a lot more enjoyable then pumping.

-Joe leaves for a week trip to Orlando tomorrow afternoon. We don't spend much time away from each other, and haven't been apart since Noah was born at all. I'm a little nervous.

-There are only 12 more days until we drive down to Charleston and Myrtle Beach. I'm really excited, and really nervous. Excited to see Erin and her family, nervous b/c Noah hasn't been on a car ride that long yet.

-Time is flying way too fast. I have to go back to work at the end of July and I'm not ready for it. I left Noah with Joe for the first time yesterday. They did fine, but I was a wreck. I just went to the mall for a haircut and pedicure, I called to check in 3 times and I was only gone for about 2 hours. I can't imagine what it's going to be like when I have to be away from him for 10-12 hour days at work :-(

-I finally got all of the FMLA paperwork fixed. still waiting to hear back about the short term disability claim. I wish they'd make it easier to do all of the paperwork.

time flies

Noah is 4 weeks old today! He'll be one month on Monday. He's a lot more alert these days, and actually plays back with me now. He smiles and coos, and he loves his bouncy seat. He's discovered the great outdoors too- we've had two play sessions under our tree in the backyard.

and for his big milestones today...he took his first bottle. I've been breast feeding him since he was born, but we need to get him used to bottles for when i go back to work. The plan is to do at least 2 bottles a week for now, and then once it gets closer to me going back to work we'll switch to one bottle a day. I'm pumping the bottles, so it's still all breast milk. It's great that Joe is getting to bond with Noah and feed him too, but I cried. It's completely silly, but I felt like I wasn't needed as much.

and, he took his first tub bath! this was a much more enjoyable milestone for me then the first. He loved his bath time and just chilled out while I soaped him up and talked to him. and he loves hooded towels, almost as much as I love seeing him in them :-) Daddy got some pictures, I'll have to upload them soon.

but now, he's sleeping after his big day so it's time for me to go to bed too(at 9:21 pm on a Friday). I'll be up again in a few hours, but for the most part he's a great sleeper. I'm not going to jinx myself and brag about how long he sleeps though, that would just be silly :-P
